The King Township ‘Local Legends’ event – enjoyed by hundreds of attendees at The Manor on Thursday night – was a rousing success. Donors and sponsors raised $75,000 for the King Heritage & Cultural Centre and Arts Society King (ASK).

While Jodie Wilson is “holding her own,” her kidney function is down to roughly 15% and she’s taking it day by day. She’s had to leave her job at Tru Country in Schomberg due to her condition.

Council received the 2025 Drinking Water Annual Summary Report from staff, that noted there were zero Adverse Water Quality Incidents in 2025. The Township received re-accreditation as an operating authority, under the Drinking Water Quality Management Standard.

Last week’s snowstorm kept many residents at home, and those who ventured out experience some of the worst conditions in years. The estimated 20-centimeter accumulation had King roads crews working day and night to clear streets and highways. The Township declared a Significant Weather Event, and urged motorists to exercise caution if venturing out.
King’s 2025 Development Charge Background Study and Bylaw returned for more tweaking, sparked by recent changes mandated by the Province. King council and staff reported on the DC bylaw, which is set to expire Jan. 13, 2026. Since the release of the background study on in October, the Province enacted Bill 60 – Fighting Delays, Building Faster Act, 2025 – which introduces several amendments to the Development Charges Act (D.C.A.) that impact the Township’s 2025 background study.

A King resident is speaking up for the most loyal among us – dogs. Kalynn Borland volunteers with Across the Ocean Rescue, a dog-rescue organization serving the GTA. “Right now, we are overwhelmed. We have an influx of large-breed dogs — many of them still puppies — who were born for wide-open land, family protection, and purposeful living,” she said, With a heavy heart, she’s reaching out in the hopes of saving “the lives of several incredible dogs who desperately need our community’s help.”
