Car ownership comes with a hefty cost

In 2021, there were an estimated 11 million licensed drivers in Ontario, representing 72.3% of a total population of 15.2 million. There were 9.5 million registered motor vehicles (Ontario Ministry of Transportation, 2022). We have a serious dependency on vehicles and this has created our biggest love-hate relationship. They say when you’re in motion, you’re bound to collide with something eventually.

Tender paves the way for reconstruction work

The work can now begin on revamping the 10th Concession and 15th Sideroad in King. Council awarded the tender for the contract to Pacific Paving Limited for $10 million. King’s 2020 Transportation Master Plan recommended several corridors that should be improved to support a Goods Movement Network throughout the Township. In Nobleton, this was identified as 10th Concession, 15th Sideroad and 8th Concession to provide an alternative route to reduce traffic volume in the Village core area.
