Annual Robinson golf tournament raises record amount

The third annual Andrew Robinson golf tournament continues to make an impact on people’s lives. The September tournament raised a whopping $92,000 this year. All monies raised from the raffle, silent auction and live auction go into the scholarship ($31,000) and the remainder goes directly to the Vitanova Foundation to assist with programming costs, food, shelter, clothing etc.

Gizmos cause us a multitude of frustrations

Things that are annoying usually stay that way. If you think about it, almost all of the frustrating gizmos, contraptions, machines and items have inherent weaknesses. They are prone to failure, just like us. We modern-day consumers believe that when we plunk down our money on a new gizmo, it should serve us for years to come. Alas, feeble humans, we are doomed by our own creations.

MPPs Stephen Lecce and Stan Cho preside over ground-breaking ceremony at Mary Lake’s 160-bed St. Rita LTC facility

Provincial government officials and local dignitaries announced at a ground-breaking ceremony in King City on Friday morning that construction of St. Rita at Mary Lake – a $60 million 160-bed Long Term Care facility – would be funded by the Province of Ontario. The event featured public addresses by Stephen Lecce (MPP—King Vaughan) and Stan Cho, Minister of Long Term Care. Prior to introducing MPP Lecce and MPP Cho, Board Member of the Augustinian Fathers Quinto Annibale noted the need for the retirement residence in King Township and its long-term attributes: “We hope that it will benefit generations to come. It shows how powerful the commitment is at Mary Lake to seniors’ health care.”

Residents asked preferences on future of Nobleton Community Hall

The public is encouraged to provide input on the future of the Nobleton Library. King councillors are anxious to move ahead on either relocating the building, or demolishing it, but they first want to solicit ideas as to what should be done with this building. Staff presented councillors with the redevelopment of the Nobleton Lions Community Park. Along with looking at neighboring properties, part of the proposal includes designating the library property as surplus. Staff want to move ahead on the project with design on key elements, and finalizing land negotiations.

Iconic Wizard of Oz presented by Brampton Music Theatre

The yellow brick road is winding its way to The Rose with Brampton Music Theatre’s production of The Wizard of Oz! It promises to be a big hit and the nearby Rose is easily accessible by King and York residents. People of all ages can’t help but be amazed by this tale, and the stage adaptation of L. Frank Baum’s beloved story about Dorothy Gale and her journey over the rainbow to the magical Land of Oz also features the iconic musical score from the MGM film.

Second Annual ‘Harvest Ontario Walk to Stop the 413’ Attracts Hundreds in King, Vaughan, Bolton, Brampton, and Caledon

The second annual Harvest Ontario Walk to Stop the 413 took place on Saturday under fair autumnal conditions and temperatures which elevated the spirit of participants. The event – organized by a coalition of environmental groups including Environmental Defence, The Wilderness Committee, EcoCaledon, Grandmothers Act to Save the Planet, Seniors for Climate Action Now, Climate Action King, and Concerned Citizens of King Township – was comprised of four walks as well as a bike ride through bucolic sections of Caledon, Brampton, Vaughan, King, and Bolton that will be decimated by the 413.
