Do we appreciate every second we have?

We all know that time is fleeting, and our life – measured in years – is but a brief experience. Jim Croce once pondered whether he could “save time in a bottle.” Nice idea, but we’re not that lucky. And quite ironic, since the song – Time in a Bottle – was released after he died in a plane crash in 1973. If only Jim, and the rest of us, could find a way to make the days last forever.

MP Anna Roberts rolls to landslide re-election victory in King-Vaughan with 62% of the vote

Anna Roberts ascended the stage triumphantly on Tuesday morning at her campaign headquarters in Maple amid the enthusiastic cheering of over 100 supporters who relished her landslide victory. King-Vaughan’s MP was returned to Ottawa by capturing 63% of the vote. Based on 185 of 245 polls reporting at 11 p.m. on Monday, Roberts rolled up 17,523 votes – nearly double the votes secured by Liberal Mubarak Ahmed. The Liberal challenger accrued 9,652 votes as the runner-up and NDP candidate Samantha Sanchez finished a distant third with 389 votes.

Residents help shape community vision at master plans public open house

King Township residents came together April 15, for a Public Open House that encouraged community input on updated master plans for the Township’s facilities, parks, trails, and transportation. The event, held at the Zancor Centre in King City, drew hundreds of engaged residents, eager to contribute to the future of their community. The open house was designed as a drop-in format, allowing residents to arrive at their convenience, view draft proposals, ask questions, and provide feedback. Township staff, consultants, and representatives from York Region were available to discuss the key elements of each plan, gather input, and explain how public suggestions could shape future improvements.

We wise adults often remark how the younger generation has a short attention span, blaming “electronic-everything.” But maybe it’s not the length of their attention, but rather providing something worth focusing on. Sure, there’s no shortage of issues these days – more than ample opportunity to raise eyebrows. But the world landscape, even for seasoned pros like parents, is a lot to absorb. It’s almost too much.
