Local volunteers recognized for their efforts

The foundation of the community – the strength of King’s dedicated volunteers – was recognized during last week’s Volunteer Appreciation Night. The one night of the year dedicated to King’s givers shone the spotlight on the vast array of special individuals. Mayor Steve Pellegrini noted volunteers have a profound impact on our community. “They are the backbone of a strong, resilient and inclusive King; giving their most valuable resources – time and energy – to make our community a better place for all,” he said.

Rice earns title of national body transformation champ

It’s a dream come true for Schomberg’s James Rice. A baseball lifer, Rice has been promoted to “Manager for a Day” by the Minnesota Twins for his ongoing work with the Little League Disaster Relief Fund Charity. The US-based organization rebuilds ball diamonds that have been destroyed by natural or human disasters.

Do we really know what time it is in our lives?

The Chinese remind us to enjoy ourselves, because “it’s later than we think.” Yes, the future does have a nasty habit of arriving all too quickly, hiding just out of sight and then running right into our path. We don’t pay much attention because we have so much to concentrate on during our action-packed and stressed-out days.
