The jury’s out on just how the Internet is shaping humankind. But make no mistake, it’s likely the most dynamic event in our history.
We’ve been enjoying the connectivity the Internet brings for almost 40 years now. Can you believe it? The World Wide Web was born in the 1980s, linking hypertext documents into an information system, accessible from any node on the network.
A partnership between government and business has brought high-speed Internet to rural areas of King Township with the initial installation of around 30 km of fibre optic cable. Internet provider Vianet Inc. provided the first hook-up of a residential home on the 19th Sideroad after completing the groundwork of laying the cable including a section that feeds through a tunnel under Highway 400.
Rural residents of King will soon be surfing the internet at blazing speeds. Municipal and government officials gathered on Monday at the Township of King municipal offices to announce the King Township Fibre Optic Broadband Expansion project.
The investment to provide high-speed Internet services to King residents comes as great news to local councillors.
