The King Cavalry, Midget BB team won gold in the St. Catharine’s Brock Jr. Badgers tournament the weekend of November 4-6.
They started the weekend off playing the Belleville Bearcats. The girls were down 2-0 going into the third. They came out strong scoring 6 goals to end their scoring drought and to win the game 6-4.
The King Cavalry ended their round robin play with 2 additional wins against Toronto Leaside Wildcats and Durham West and a loss to Mississauga Chiefs.
With a 3-1-0 record in the round robin, the King Cavalry advanced to the semifinals Sunday morning against Durham West Lightning. Both teams had much to prove after their game Saturday. The girls played with a lot of determination and desire to win. At the end of 3 periods the game was tied 3-3. After a scoreless OT period, the game went to a shootout. The Cavalry scored 2 of 3 while the Cavalry’s goaltender held Durham West to only 1 of 3 giving them a 4-3 win and a birth to the finals.
In the championship game, the Cavalry faced off against the Peterborough Ice Kats. Peterborough was a fast and strong team but the King Cavalry had a little bit of extra. The girls battled right to the final buzzer of a tough game to win gold!
Congratulations goes out to the girls: Abby, Adele, Allison, Amanda, Ashleigh, Jamie, Jessica, Lauren, Kenna L., Kenna P., Nikki, Paige, Sarah M. , Sarah V., and Shea along with the coaching staff: Cliff, Barrie, Rick, Trevor and Trainers Lorie and Nancy of the King Cavalry Midget BB on winning gold!
