Local artists from King Township and guest artists from neighbouring communities are preparing for this year’s ASK Studio Tour King. This two-day annual spring art event, being held on April 23 and 24, is expected to be the largest in its 11-year history, boasting 38 participating artists showing their work at 19 locations in King Township.
This will be a great opportunity for visitors to the studio tour to meet a new generation of great artists.
A broad spectrum of disciplines will be represented during ASK Studio Tour King 2016. Artists working in oil, acrylic, and watercolour painting, leather, photography, textiles and woodworking will be showing a variety of unique and original creations at their own studios and in public locations such as the King Heritage and Cultural Centre. Visitors to the ASK Studio Tour King will be encouraged to stop by all of the nineteen locations during the weekend of the studio tour to see how artists work in their own environments. This is a great time to connect with artists on a personal level, find out what inspires them, and purchase artwork from a local source.
ASK Studio Tour King takes place on the weekend of April 23 and 24, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days, at various locations in King Township. For an interactive online experience, connect with ASK Studio Tour King on Facebook at: www.facebook.com/studiotourking/, and download a studio tour brochure to begin this year’s journey.
In 2005, local artists Marianne Broome and Garry Conway worked together to initiate plans for the first Studio Tour that would showcase the diverse talents of our acclaimed King artists. They were joined by other artists, and a group of passionate volunteers, who all worked tirelessly to coordinate the first studio tour event in King Township in 2006. Over the years, with diligent work from many others, the tour has grown and transformed into what it is today.
The ASK Studio Tour King now has its widest reach ever, attracting not only artists eager to participate in the event, but also a wide array of art enthusiasts who anticipate visiting the artists during the studio tour each year. For more information, visit: www.artssocietyking.ca
