Mayor privileged to serve

I would like to extend my heartfelt appreciation to the residents of King for placing their faith in me and allowing me the privilege of serving as your Mayor for the next four years.
I sought re-election because I truly love this job, and I want to build on the long list of accomplishments over the past term.
We now have strong, forward-looking plans and strategies in place, including our Economic Development Strategy, Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan, Museum strategy, and of course our guiding Sustainability Plan. Over the last term, our reserves have grown from $13 million to $37 million and we are paying down our debt. Our council is the envy of York Region and I am very proud of our entire Township team.
I love King and I promise to do everything in my power as Mayor to make sure we succeed together.
I work for you and with you. I will continue to engage the public and I encourage everyone to attend public events and our Meet the Mayor and Councillor nights, a tradition I will continue. I am always happy to stop by to meet you and discuss your concerns.
King Township has an impressive history and a bright future that we will create together.
Once again, thank you all. It is my privilege to serve.

The future of the Nobleton Community Hall is still up in the air. Chris Fasciano, Director of Community Services, recent noted that currently, staff do not have direction on future plans, uses or improvements for the facility from council. However, staff are in the process of developing options and intend to present them to council for direction in the future.

Things will be a little quieter in three spots in King, thanks to a whistle cessation agreement between the Township and Metrolinx. King council okayed the bylaw to stop train whistling at crossings on Station Road, Dufferin Street and the 15th Sideroad.

King councillors want to keep next year’s budget affordable. While very early in the 2025 budget process, staff had asked for an increase of between 4 and 5%, but councillors rejected that. Council conveyed a clear message to staff that the projected increase of 4.8 per cent was too much to ask from residents, who are experiencing tax fatigue.
