How about spending Father’s Day with family and friends by the lake?
Well, this is an option in King, with a lake in our own back yards.
On Sunday, June 15, Spray Lake Watersports is hosting an open house, inviting people from the community to come check out their facility, which is now going into its second season in business.
Spray Lake Watersports was launched in the summer of 2013 by a group of friends with the vision of providing a unique watersport experience to customers, without having to travel to “cottage-country.”
The setting itself is quite spectacular. A freshwater lake, it’s located on Keele Street near Asnorveldt, in the Holland Marsh. Core activities for customers include waterskiing and wakeboarding behind brand new ski boats and wakeboarding on what they consider, the best cable park in the province (nicknamed “The Ranch”). Other activities include, beach volleyball, swimming and canoeing. They also offer kids camps, corporate events, school groups and birthday parties!
The facility itself will be open to the public seven days a week, to mid-October. In the heart of the summer, it will open at 10 a.m. and close at sunset.
There’s no entrance admission and plenty of water sports offered for a fee. Waterskiing and wakeboarding are the most popular events. Other ancillaries include volleyball, swimming, canoeing.
Visitors are welcome to bring their own small water toys to use in the roped-off designated swimming areas. You’re also welcome to bring your own ski/wakeboard equipment, but equipment is available to rent.
The open house will have live music, good food and lots of fun for everyone. Free wakeboard runs on the cable park and special rate wakeboard and waterski lessons on the boat will be happening all day. Pride Marine Group will be there to show off their fleet of 2014 Nautique boats, and Zodiac Day Camp will be there to chat about some exciting children’s camping opportunities taking place at Spray Lake. There will be a handful of other sponsors there, showing off some awesome watersport and summer-related accessories to keep you busy all summer.
The event will run from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Parking is free as is entry to the event. Cable rides will be on a first come first serve basis.
