Mike Hogg running for federal Liberal nomination

A “passionate Liberal” in King wants to be our next federal representative.
Michael Hogg , a 40-year King resident, brings his expertise to bear, contesting the nomination of the new riding of King-Vaughan.
Hogg firmly believes that “we can do better: Better support for the education of youth to drive a 21st century economy.  Better stewardship of the environment for our children and grand children. Better  management of the nation’s finances to create the manufacturing jobs that we have lost in the  hundreds of thousands in the last eight years of neglect.”
After a successful 30-year career in investing, Hogg wants to give back to the community that has been at the heart of his family’s life. “My kids have moved on – now I want to give back,” he said. “Volunteerism has always been at the heart of my life – politics and service to the riding is the next step.
“I think in the last decade Canada has been moving backward – when we have the resources and human talent to progress to new heights of achievement.”
Born in Kleinburg, educated at St. Andrew’s College and York University, an economist by training, Mike believes in a fact-based approach to policy. Public policy must be based on real issues not on fundraising from the party faithful.
“I find the current atmosphere of political tribalism offensive – even kids in a school yard behave better.”
Hogg’s volunteer history speaks to his interests and commitments. Years with his children in Scouting and NobleKing Minor Hockey, supporter and fundraiser of the King Township Food Bank, volunteer with Out of the Cold and Welcome Table and  member of the Kettleby Fair Committee.
Mike’s wife Marion calls him a “serial volunteer.” In recent years he has volunteered on the federal and provincial Oak Ridges-Markham Liberal riding associations, serving as director, policy director and vice-president.
With the recent riding reorganization, Hogg is looking forward to serving the new riding. The new King-Vaughan riding is made up of King Township south of Highway 9, south to Major Mackenzie west of Highway 400, and Rutherford Road between 400 and Bathurst.
The new riding is looking for interested volunteers and members. For more information email mikehogg4KV@gmail.com or follow him on Facebook, Mike Hogg.
