Councillor thanks support for King City Festival

I would like to thank the King City Lions for their unending support of the King City community and also to thank Chris Fasciano, acting director of the Parks and Rec. department for enabling his excellent staff to exercise the kind of leadership and creativity needed to make this our most successful event yet.
Particular thanks go to Jon Bell and Amanda Hicks for their support and professionalism in setting the tone for a very well managed day.
Special thanks also goes to Patty Fleetwood for providing her experience and guidance to improve this event, and also to Peter Culbertson, for all his hard work since 2011, in continuing to donate long hours to provide great sound and stage management for all of our musical acts.
The event was very well attended throughout the day, with great weather and great fun had by all.
Finally I would like to thank all of our sponsors. Without their support, there would be no festival at all.

King councillors want to keep next year’s budget affordable. While very early in the 2025 budget process, staff had asked for an increase of between 4 and 5%, but councillors rejected that. King-Vaughan MP Stephen Lecce is the new Minister of Energy and Electrification. His cabinet post has been swapped with Todd Smith, who now becomes Education Minister. Lecce has served as Education Minister since 2019. Premier Doug Ford unveiled his renewed team last week that “will keep rebuilding Ontario’s economy and deliver on the government’s core commitments, including building Highway 413 and the Bradford Bypass, keeping costs down by fighting the carbon tax and training more people for rewarding careers in the skilled trades.

Following a series of well attended public open houses, Township staff have presented a draft report on two neighbourhood plans. Staff shared details of studies for both King City (Doctors Lane) and Nobleton (Old King Road) with councillors recently.
