Nobleton Lakes hosts the PGAO Championship

It’s not every day a public golf course hosts a prestigious event like the PGA of Ontario. It is, in fact, usually meant for membership golf courses to take the reins. It’s not for precedence or anything like that. It’s easier to relay to the club’s cohort, their course will be hosting a prestigious event. Who doesn’t like that kind of stuff, knowing your course is up for hosting pro golfers?

King’s Official Plan reaches final stages

King has reached a pivotal point in its history. Council gave the green light to tweaks by York Region to its long-awaited Official Plan. With a couple of site-specific additions, the Our King planning document will be in the hands of York Region, awaiting final approval this fall.

Reintroducing school sports will have to wait

Schools will have to deal with organized team sports this fall. The York school board and St. Andrew’s College have shed some light on what the fall season will look like.

Township staff continue to serve residents

While the municipal offices are closed to the public, King Township staff are busy serving residents. The Municipal Centre has always been available for staff to use during the pandemic. However, officials encouraged staff to work remotely as much as possible.

Province prepares for reopening of schools in September

Queen’s Park has given the green light to reopen schools to students this September. Top officials, including Education Minister and King-Vaughan MPP Stephen Lecce last week announced the reopening of schools for in-class instruction. The government unveiled a plan that prioritizes the health and safety of students and staff, and provides school boards with unprecedented resources and flexibility, while accommodating regional differences in trends of key public health indicators. This plan was developed in consultation with the Chief Medical Officer of Health, the COVID-19 Command Table and paediatric experts.
