Three Toronto men have been charged with numerous offences in the drive-by shooting in Lloydtown earlier this year. The investigation revealed an organized crime connection. The incident has left the 65-year-old local senior with life-altering injuries. The pandemic didn’t slow King Township down in making “significant progress” in year four of its Corporate Strategic Plan. Staff noted the plan, which spanned 2019-2022, set out priorities, objectives, key actions and performance measures to guide the Township’s decisions for the previous term of council.
A record attendance at the mayor’s annual business address last week revealed the strength of local business. Hosted by the King Chamber of Commerce, the luncheon featured the mayor’s “State of the Township Address,” noting all of the accomplishments and milestones in the past year. King’s Committee of Adjustment approved four minor variances related to a long-term care facility at Marylake. The committee meeting Wednesday evening only heard from a small number of residents (some of whom spoke the previous week). The committee members were satisfied with answers from staff, and while public opposition is still prevalent, they support staff recommendations on the variances.
The shocking discovery of a body on a walking trail north of King City has York Regional Police homicide unit investigating. Police deemed the incident a homicide and the victim has been identified as 18-year-old Zackhry Ramnath of Montreal. YRP said it looks like a “targeted incident.”

After being bombarded with more than a dozen citizen delegations and receiving 29 letters of objection, the committee decided to hold a special meeting this coming Wednesday, April 26 to reconsider the matter.
