We have to be accountable for what we put in our bodies. A Nobleton man has made it simple for all of us to kick-start our road to recovery. Recognizing the contributions of local businesses was in the spotlight at King council recently. The mayor and councillors recognized four local companies during the 2015 Spotlight on Business presentation.
Water has never been thought of as a pricey commodity. The cost of water is getting hard to swallow for King residents, who will be faced with some substantial increases over the next few years.
Rising hydro rates are the driving factor for King’s user fees. Councillors approved increases which take effect Jan. 1, 2016.
Business in King Township is wonderful. With that sentiment, the King Chamber of Commerce honoured a handful of local businesses during the annual Business Awards Gala, held at Nobleton Lakes last week.
In an ever-changing landscape of growth, King Township continues to fine-tune its Official Plan. The plan review process moved forward last week, with approval of recommendations presented by Meridian Consulting, but not before councillors deferred and referred certain matters pertaining to densities in King City.
We most often encounter them at the worst of times. If we’re lucky, we get to see them at their best, at a community event, or receiving recognition for the work they do. The highly touted members of the King Fire and Emergency Services were in the limelight last week, at the annual appreciation dinner, held at Nobleton Lakes. The very heart and soul of the service _ the dedicated volunteers – were proudly showcased with long service honours and prestigious awards.
Showing off King’s true colours is the intent of a new public art policy. King councillors supported a staff report Monday night that will lay the groundwork to expanding public involvement in various art displays throughout the township.
King Township is setting its sights on sprucing up local villages. Council received and supported staff recommendations contained in the draft Streetscaping and Beautification Plan 2015-2019. The final version will head back to council for approval in early December.
