More than 75 people braved the winter weather Jan. 29 to meet and cheer on Gary Gladstone’s campaign to become the first federal Liberal candidate for King-Vaughan.
Introduced by six-time MPP Michael Colle, Gladstone spoke about the many challenges facing the riding and the country, including employment, immigration reform, transparency in government and the transit and infrastructure needed to address the riding’s growth.
Both existing King-Vaughan riding members and those interested in the party and its leader, Justin Trudeau, were excited to learn more about Gladstone and his campaign. The crowd was tremendously enthusiastic in their support for Gladstone’s nomination, frequently cheering and applauding. At the end of the evening, Gladstone’s team had grown by several new members and volunteers.
A leading candidate for the Liberal candidacy in the new riding of King-Vaughan, Gladstone’s campaign meet was hosted by leaders and supporters including Liberal MP Gurbax Singh Malhi, King Township Councillor Avia Eek, former YRDSB Trustee Joel Hertz, Frank Miele, Sabi Ahsan, Anand Dua, Shirish Shah and Giacomo Parisi. Attendees represented King-Vaughan’s diversity and breadth, including members and leaders of the Italian, Jewish, Iranian, Hindu, Sikh, Punjabi, Tamil, Muslim and other communities.
“I am always impressed with Gary’s ability to connect with the residents of King-Vaughan,” said Anand Dua, local businessman. “Gary cares about King-Vaughan and its residents and will get things done as the first MP for the riding.”
