When the Ottawa Senators were introduced for their warm-up before their match-up with the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday night at Canadian Tire Centre, one lone skater took to the ice for a couple of laps. As is tradition in hockey circles, that player was Alex Formenton, skating in his first-ever regular season NHL game.
Alex Formenton is headed to the nation’s capital. The left-winger from King City did not have to wait long to hear his name called on the second day of the NHL’s annual entry draft, when the Ottawa Senators announced him as their second round pick, 47th overall.
