It’s almost like they’ve been here for a long time.
Nobleton’s Scotiabank invited the public to a day-long party last week, to mark the first anniversary of their first King institution. Their sense of commitment to their new home was reflected in the atmosphere of the open house.
Service and generosity to the community was front and centre last week.
Staff presented Margaret Hastings, fundraising chair of the King Township Food Bank, with a cheque for $500, as part of their ongoing commitment to local causes.
Hastings noted when she canvassed for support for their inaugural Sip & Savour gala fundraiser, Scotiabank was quick to get involved. They were the first sponsor and have been regular contributors ever since.
King Mayor Steve Pellegrini was delighted they were able to work with Scotiabank and make this particular model work. It’s a top-notch company and the resulting branch is simply “outstanding.”
“You’ve jumped in with both feet, helping King events,” he said, extending his thanks to branch staff.
Fulvia Cantarutti, Scotiabank’s District Vice-President for GTA North, noted family roots run deep in Nobleton and the small town charm has been embraced by bank staff. Since their opening in June of 2014, they’ve been very involved in the community. Their goal is to make it a “pleasure to come home to your branch.”
Long-time Nobleton resident Bob Sharer, a retired Scotiabank district manager, was on hand to offer some remarks. He was one of the first residents to open an account at this branch.
He recalls when the bank did a survey of Nobleton in the early 1980s and they described the village as a “sleepy, little community.”
It has grown to become King’s second largest village.
Natalie Latchman-Greaves, branch manager, welcomed visitors and Scotiabank management, including Senior Vice President of Toronto Region, Claude Norfolk.
“This is a very important moment for use because today’s event is the result of a lot of hard work by so many. The branch took over two years of planning to ensure its location was ideal and the construction fit in with Nobleton’s heritage and history,” she said.
“Our branch opened for business on June 16, 2014 and we were warmly welcomed by Nobleton residents. We have continued to meet residents and build relationships with the people of Nobleton, Schomberg and King. Scotiabank has a long history in the Greater Toronto Area and today marks the next chapter in our ability to serve our customers and contribute to our community together.
“I want to emphasize that we are very glad to have the privilege of serving many of you as customers. I hope we can enjoy many more years together building relationships, meeting your financial needs and working as partners to make our community stronger.”
