Nominate King Township youth for recognition award

The Township of King Mayor’s Youth Action Team (MYAT) formed in 2015, is a voluntary group of young individuals between the ages of 13 and 18, whose mandate is to provide direction and to promote services related to youth, support and recognize their fellow youth, to act as an advocate to youth issues, and to support the positive assets of youth within our youth friendly community.
The Youth Recognition Awards Ceremony aims to celebrate and recognize youth in the community who have made extraordinary contributions in various areas and to generate awareness of the value these contributions make in our community. Nominate a deserving youth today!
The nomination deadline is this Friday, April 22. The awards ceremony will take place May 4.
The Mayor’s Youth Action Team will be seeking candidates based on the following award criteria:
Youth Award: A candidate, who promotes an overall positive image of youth in the community. This candidate is dedicated, motivated, active, and a role model in their community through volunteerism and participation in various initiatives.
Community Involvement Award: A candidate, who has dedicated their time and efforts to local organizations or events. This candidate devotes their time and is involved in their community through their volunteerism, employment, participation, and shows a passion for helping others.
Empowerment Award: A candidate, who inspires their peers and other members of the community through mentoring, coaching and their motivational personality. This candidate is a positive role model and shows a true passion for helping others.
Arts Award: A candidate, who exhibits a passion for performing arts through music, theatre and cultural talent. This candidate demonstrates a positive image of performing arts within the community.
Athletic Award: A candidate, who exhibits a passion for sports through their participation, volunteerism, or coaching within a sport. This candidate demonstrates a positive image of Sports within the community.
Spirit Award: A candidate, who promotes a positive image of young people through their involvement in projects or initiatives and their ability to advocate for their own beliefs and those of their peers. This candidate is involved in their community in a manner that benefits their peers.
Nominees must be between the ages of 13 and 18, and must be active members of the Township of King. It is preferred that nominees be residents of the Township.
