Magna site plan coming

Magna Internation has filed a zoning amendment application with the Township of King regarding their new headquarters just west of King City.
According to Stephen Kitchen, King’s planning director, the Township also received a number of supporting studies and reports. Magna intends to submit a concurrent site plan application within the next 2-3 weeks.
The zoning amendment application ask to permit the development of an employment complex consisting of a 3-storey office building totalling 200,000 square feet, another 120,000 square feet of research and development, and an indoor/outdoor recreation amenity feature.
The reaction to Magna’s decision has been met with excitement across King Township.
“The decision of Magna International to relocate global HQ to King City is spectacular news,” said Councillor Debbie Schaefer. “Their plan is exactly what was envisioned when the southeast quadrant of King Road and Jane was designated as prestige employment.  What could be more prestigious than having an innovator like Magna?
“To achieve 625 quality, high value jobs being located in King is very significant for King.”
