Congratulations to the NobleKing atom A hockey team who proudly represented their home centre as finalists in the NobleKing Challenge Cup, which was held in Nobleton and King City January 10-12.
On Friday morning, the boys started off the tournament strongly with a 2-0 win and shutout for goalie Steven Selvaggi in their first game versus the Toronto Royals. In their second game of the day, the young Knights dominated the South Muskoka Bears with an impressive 7-0 win for their team and shutout for goalie Matthew Maniatis.
The third game in the round robin, held on Saturday, was against the Clarkson Hurricanes.  Both teams had a 2-0 record and each team was vying for top spot in their division. Strong play from both teams resulted in a 2-2 tie, however, due to a better goals for and against average, NobleKing advanced to the semi-finals as the first place team in their division.
The semi-finals saw the Knights again facing a rejuvenated Toronto Royals team. After regulation time the game was tied at 1-1. Tensions were high in the sudden-death overtime, however, the Knights held strong and were able to score within the first minute to secure their spot in the finals.
In the championship Sunday, the Knights again battled the Clarkson Hurricanes. After a scoreless first period it was evident that it was going to be a competitive final. Just after the first minute in the second period, Clarkson finally scored. Despite strong play by the young Knights the score remained 1-0 and NobleKing took home the silver medal.
A big thank you to coaches Rob De Rose, Dan Dimitroff, Joseph Petrungaro, Brent Robinson and Tory Termini for their dedication. Congratulations to the team members Vincent Albanese, Aurelio De Rose, Ryan Dimitroff, Leo Graziosi, Anthony Macedo, Matthew Maniatis, Liam McPhillips, Christopher Petrungaro, Cameron Robinson, Lorenzo Rossi, Steven Selvaggi, and Michael Termini for their well-deserved silver medal win.
