Our home is a bit quieter than usual. It’s a strange silence, where you know something isn’t right. Our 14-year-old Lab Marley is no longer with us. For dogs, that’s a heck of a life, roughly equivalent to 98 human years! We don’t really “own” our best friends but merely “rent” them. We all hope for a long “lease.”
Dogs’ lives are too short. That’s really their only flaw. Dog owners know that once you have one, it’s hard to live without one. They are what they seem – curious, loving, mischievous, intelligent and well, crazy, at times. Sounds a lot like people.
Charles Schulz once said that happiness is a warm puppy! OMG ain’t it the truth? Okay, kittens are cute too, but come on, puppies! Feb. 20 was not only Family Day in Ontario, but it was also National Pet Day. Okay, we really don’t need a day singled out to love our pets – they often bring us joy every minute of every day.
Children, like dogs, seem to like me. Call it animal magnetism. Children aren’t like cars, motorcycles, airplanes, your favourite CD or even a really good pair of jeans.
