The family of a Schomberg child who suffers from a serious heart condition is taking time to give back to the community.
The Eveson family is holding a “We believe in Abby Family day” Saturday, June 20 to coincided with the opening of Hickstead Park on Summit Ridge.
The family has received a lot of support from the community, local organization and even the Township of King, to help them deal with little Abby’s serious health issues.
“Thank you feels like such an insignificant phrase for the gratitude we feel,” reads the invitation from the Eveson family. “There are really no words that can describe how all of your support touched our hearts. When you are in a situation and not given a lot of hope, knowing you have so many people on your side helps to build your strength to get through each day at a time.”
The BBQ is a day the Evesons are giving back to say thanks to everyone who has supported them, including SickKids. Running 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the fun day will also see the opening of the new splash pad. They will be accepting donations for SickKids. Raffle items include 4 tickets for Jays vs. Yankees, MK sunglasses, a $500 family portrait session, Schomberg Skating club lesson session, $310 and Talyormade stand, bag and pitching wedge. Also on tap will be an evening the movie in the park, starting at 8:45 p.m.
Abby, now two years old, was born with multiple congenital heart defects and the biggest concern is the blood flow out of the heart to become oxygenated by the lungs. Abby has already had several open heart surgeries.
