Schomberg Red Wings win juvenile Silver Stick title

As a result of winning the Regional Silver Stick tournament on Dec. 7, 2014 in Lucknow, the Schomberg Red Wings juvenile hockey team advanced to the International Silver Stick finals in Mooretown, which were held from Jan. 8-11.
The team made it to the semi-finals on the Saturday night and played against Lambton Shores which ended with a Schomberg victory with a score of 3-0.
The finals were held on Sunday and the Schomberg team faced the Loyalist Jets juvenile team, who had not lost a game in the tournament.
The game was a hard-fought battle with the Loyalist Jets team leading on the score board as the third period was coming to an end.
The Schomberg team pulled their goalie and the six attacking Schomberg players were able to put one past the Loyalist goalie with just 18 seconds remaining in the game, tying the score 3-3. The game then went into overtime periods with the play going back and forth, end to end with both teams getting scoring opportunities only to be shut down by the goaltenders.
It was half-way through the third overtime period that the Schomberg team scored on a wrap-around goal, winning the game 4-3 and becoming the International Silver Stick Juvenile C champions.
Parents wish to thank the players and coaching staff for their hard work and dedication.
The players included Dylan Fitzgibbon, Tyler Burtt, Benjamin Hampson, Zack Butterworth, Tom Fortin, Luca Germinario, Luca Celebre, Stephen Leonard, Austin Maggiacomo, Ryan McLaughlin, Dan Giglio, Tristan Berry, Keenan Nocon-Willats, Lucas Panezutti, Devin Lampert, Brock Boyd.
Coaching staff is made up of Bruce Leonard, William Germinario and Dylan Maggiacomo.
