Coppa’s Fresh Market to open new store in King City

The addition of a major food store in King City comes as good news to residents and politicians.
Coppa’s Fresh Market, a family-owned grocery chain in the GTA, is coming to King City. The new store will be in the King’s Ridge Marketplace development, located at Dufferin Street and King Road.
This will be the company’s fifth store and the King locale will be a new look, a step up, from other stores, according to John Louie Coppa, president of Coppa’s.
It’s an exciting project that will bring the “world of food” to King. It’s still in the early stages and will likely take two years to complete.
Mayor Steve Pellegrini said he’s delighted to welcome Coppa’s, which will be a “perfect fit for King City.” This 50,000-square-foot premier grocery store is needed and he’s pleased he was able to help facilitate the deal. Part of his job as mayor is to assist local businesses.
“I’m delighted this worked out,” he said.
Councillor Cleve Mortelliti shared the mayor’s enthusiasm.
He said he and the mayor have been working for years on securing a grocery store and he’s happy the efforts have paid off.
The plaza development itself is coming together nicely, he observed.
