Cleanup in King slow but sure

Removing the tree debris left behind by this winter’s ice storm is moving ahead, albeit a bit slowly.
The mayor and Township staff met last week about the matter and want to point out to residents that they can leave limbs under 6 inches in diameter at the roadside on their yard waste collection day (every other week). Township crews, along with contracted workers, are making their way across King.
The mayor said they’ve already begun in King City and most residents have left bundles at the roadside. It’s difficult to say just how long it will take because crews don’t the exact volume. It’s also very time-consuming.
They are working on a schedule so they can give residents a better idea of what days and times crews will be in their neighbourhoods, to make the process run smoothly.
The mayor did say he expects it will take longer than anticipated and costs will rise. The province has agreed to help fund the cleanup and the Township will send them a bill once all the work is completed.
