The NobleKing minor peewee Knights entered the Silver Stick Regional Tournament held in Vaughn over the Christmas holidays and with some very energetic, and great hockey, and came away with the championship.
The team now has a chance to compete for the international title to be held in Newmarket on the weekend of Jan. 16-19.
Playing their first games in over 10 days, the team started out slowly in their first two games in defeating the Toronto Eagles and the Credit Valley Wolves by identical 4-1 scores.
The 10 teams were then seeded after the first two games and the next game for the Knights was a rematch against Credit Valley, and the players responded with a solid 3-0 win.
NobleKing met a determined Oshawa Generals team in the semis. Oshawa had scored 18 goals in their first three games. A total team effort by all stymied their offence and NobleKing won 3-1 in a fast-paced, entertaining game.
Four hours later the championship game was played against the Brampton 45s.
After a fast and productive first period, NobleKing had a 4-0 lead, with all three lines contributing. NobleKing was able to add five more goals through the final two periods and won the game and championship 9-0.
Congratulations go out to goalies Matthew Brunato, and Matteo Manfrini, defenceman Zachary Cafaro, Nicholas Vitale, Matthew DeAngelis, Adam Miller, and Jack MacDonald, forwards Jack Miller, Thomas Karanicolas, Anthony Critelli, Gabriel Pecchia, Lucas Ceccarelli, Anthony DiCosola, David Bazzo, Carter Diceman, and Angelo DeAngelis.
