A Nobleton girl knows a little about sacrifice.
Paige Mcdonald, 11, donated a substantial amount of hair last week, which took her almost 18 months to grow. It’s all for a good cause, and the 12-inch portions are going to Angel Hair for Kids, a program that provides wigs and hair loss solutions to financially disadvantaged children across Canada.
It takes 10-12 ponytails to make one hair prosthesis and Paige’s contribution, due to the length and thickenss of her hair, will amount to three of them.
The hair-cutting took place Oct. 23 at Sandra’s Hair Salon in Nobleton as Paige’s family, friends and supporters gathered. Staff Cristina Melo handled the styling duties.
The Grade 6 student at Nobleton Public School said she would recommend it to anyone.
Paige’s mom Lori said if they receive any financial donations, they will be sent to the Ganz Liver Transplant Fund in Toronto, in the name of family friend and “cowboy” Jake Walker.
