Scotia McLeod peewees capture playoff championship

The Scotia McLeod championship peewees include Coach Kelly Harbridge, Coach Mike Murphy, Jonah Orlandi, Thomas French, Tyler Radell, Andrew Dinopoulos, Noah Orlandi, Matthew Murphy, Max Orlandi, Jonathan Brunato, Gavin O’Brien, Benjamin Harbridge, Jake Bernhardt & Head Coach Tim Bernhardt. Absent: Brendan Grammenz.

The two top peewee teams went head to head in the championship game on Aug. 29 in King City and it was a come-from-behind nail-biter that saw the KTBA Scotia McLeod Peewee King Cobras win in the bottom of the final inning against cross township rival Grignano Racco Chartered Accountants King Cobras. Both teams were evenly matched which made for an entertaining and very competitive game.
Going into the final inning Scotia McLeod was trailing 10-9 and were able to tie the score 10-10 with two out and bases loaded. Showing extreme patience at the plate Andrew Dinopoulos was given a free pass with bases loaded to seal the win for Scotia McLeod. Jonah Orlandi crossed the plate with the winning run. It was a “walk-off” win for Scotia McLeod to cap off a perfect record season for the team in 2013. Congratulations to the Scotia McLeod King Cobras for bringing the hardware home for the KTBA!
After the game, KTBA Umpire-in-Chief Tom Ellison commented: “On behalf of our umpires I would like to extend my thanks to all parents and coaches this season, and in particular to those involved in the peewee final on Thursday, August 29, for the exemplary behaviour and good sportsmanship displayed not only at the championship game but throughout the entire season. It is a pleasure to be involved with you in your games.”
All involved with Tom Ellison over his many years in baseball wish him the very best in his future endeavors – and we’re all thinking he will likely be spotted at the baseball diamonds in the years to come.
The Arbour Restaurant KTBA Player of the Week honours goes to Jonah Orlandi of the Scotia McLeod King Cobras peewee team. Orlandi scored the championship winning run in an exciting game that went right down to the wire in a fitting end to a very successful season!
