Ric Bedard, Harry Dahme and Mark Hegesteijn of team King. All three competed in various legs of the race.
The 7th annual Moraine Adventure Relay wrapped up in King June 15.
The day-long, multi-sport team challenge along the Oak Ridges Moraine began at Rice Lake with participants taking to the water in canoes.
It ended in the evening at the Log Cabin at Seneca College King Campus.
The aim of the relay is to support the Oak Ridges Trail Association’s work to improve, maintain and promote the trail.
Team King conquered the ORM relay race, finishing fifth out of 30 teams with a time of roughly 11 hours. Mark Hegesteijn ran the last leg of the race for the team of nine.
For the first time, the nine teams competing in the “elite” category raced the full 160 kilometres against each other. Also for the first time, one team consisted of only two members (plus support crew). These two members paddled the initial 8 kilometres on Rice Lake, following which the two alternated running legs of the race.
