Local speed skater Andria Scarpelli, a member of the King Speed Skating Club, set two Ontario Speed records this spring in the girls age class 8 during a competition held in Oakville.
Andria set records in her age group for both the 200-metre and 400-metre distances with times of 27.20 and 53.54 respectively.  Andria has had a wonderful season of competition this past year with the King Club, culminating in her stellar performance in Oakville mid-March.
Her coaches, parents and the club executive are all very proud of not only her performance in the sport throughout the season, but the progression of her teammates as well throughout this year.
The King Speed Skating Club has seen an unprecedented year with skaters taking a total of 8 medals in competition in the many regional and provincial events throughout this season. Being relatively new, it is a promise of brighter things to come for this young and growing club.
The club would like to thank all skaters for their commitment to the sport, as well as the board members and volunteers who made this season happen.
For anyone interested, free speed skating trial sessions will be offered on Aug. 18 and 25 at the Trisan Centre in Schomberg. Youth and adults alike are invited to contact the club and come out to one of these sessions. More trial sessions will be available in the fall in Nobleton, during regular skating times.
