I don’t think most of us can ever understand the hate that’s been embedded in some cultures, religions and countries. Canada welcomes everyone of all ethnicities and countries of origin. We are considered a “cultural mosaic,” unlike the American “melting pot.”

Emmerson retires as York chair

Long-serving York politician Wayne Emmerson will retire as regional chair and CEO. Emmerson made the announcement at last week’s regional council meeting. He’s leaving effective Friday, Nov. 29. “This has been a very difficult and personal decision, but the right one and at the right time for myself and my family,” he said.

Restoration of the King Christian Church and King Railway Station under way

Despite King Township’s reputation as a wealthy area, food insecurity has long been a reality for many, particularly lower-income families, rural workers, and seniors on fixed incomes. This year, the need has skyrocketed, with the food bank reporting a 66% increase in individuals served since the beginning of 2023.
