York Regional Police have charged a Richmond Hill councillor with fraud and breach of trust. Investigators with the York Regional Police Financial Crimes Unit began a fraud investigation back in July, looking into a city councillor’s fraudulent use of funds.

Outbreaks reported in King

King Township has experienced significant COVID-19 outbreaks in recent weeks and some deaths at a local nursing home. Sadly, there have been four deaths at King City Lodge Nursing Home due to COVID-19. The latest fatalities occurred between Nov. 19 and 29. They included a 95-year-old female, a 69-year-old male, a 98-year-old female and an 89-year-old female.

Union asks to be ‘at the table’ for CAS reform

Union representatives want to be involved in reforming a “toxic, racist” environment at York Children’s Aid Society (CAS). The Province is looking into allegations of harassment and racism, which surfaced this summer. In July, the government announced an operational review of YRCAS.

Police seek King shooting suspects

Police have released a video in hopes of tracking down suspects in a recent daylight shooting incident in King. Investigators with York Regional Police #1 District Criminal Investigations Bureau released the video and are on the lookout for two suspects.
