There are big things in store for King’s leading arts organization.
Arts Society King (ASK) is set to mark its 10th anniversary in 2015 and leading the charge is its new executive director Teri Hastings.
Hastings joined ASK in mid-October in her new role and she’ll be working alongside the dedicated board of directors and volunteers. She’ll help “lead ASK into our 10th year and beyond as we continue to promote and present cultural activities in King.”
Hastings pointed out Arts Society King’s mission is to foster inspiration, understanding and appreciation for the arts, heritage and nature. They bring well-deserved attention to King’s artist community through various events. ASK supports and advances the tremendous culture that exists in King and continues to campaign for the recognition of the incredible nature that surrounds us.
The group recently held a Car Rally event that took almost 100 residents and visitors through the beautiful fall-coloured hills and valleys that are King Township.
Through Dec. 17 at the King Township Museum, ASK is hosting a Pop-Up Art Shoppe. Visitors are welcome to stop by between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays at 2920 King Road. Available for purchase are original art pieces, sculptures, jewellery, soap, original photography and more.  There are many reasonably priced, original gift ideas for Christmas.
Its major annual events include Studio Tour King (April 25 and 26, 2015), the Schomberg Street Gallery (September 13, 2015), ASK Festival King (June 26-July 11, 2015), Travel Diary series, Pop-up Arts Shoppes at the King Museum, youth art classes and Mosaic, their incredible, gorgeous quarterly publication that features images of original art and stories reflective of our mission.
ASK was established in 2005 and is a volunteer not-for-profit organization.  Events and programs are year-round; some are free to the public and are suitable for all ages.
ASK receives support from members, donors, sponsors and from our partners. Their goal is to increase support so that we they continue to create new programming as well as maintain the many events that enrich our community.
