A great turnout for the third annual Mayor’s Golf Tournament will see a nice injection of funding to community projects.
The sold-out event drew 150 golfers to Cardinal last week, despite the hot temperatures. The event raised a total of $104,850.
According to Mayor Steve Pellegrini, funds raised go back into the community, into the coffers of Parks, Recreation and Culture Department at the Township. In the past three years, the tournament has seen roughly $250,000 given back to King Township.
“It’s a humbling experience,” Pellegrini said, adding these funds stay in the community.
The Township is looking at creating an AstroTurf soccer field with lights and working with King United Soccer to make it happen.
