CDS launches sports-themed summer camp

While the academic year ended end-of-year closing day ceremonies, The Country Day School’s campus is definitely not void of students. In fact, just the opposite
It is abuzz with young campers between the ages of 8-10 and 11-14 who have finished school for the summer and are taking advantage of honing their athletic skills at this action-packed, sports-developmental summer camp.
“Since most independent schools finish two weeks ahead of the Catholic and public school boards, we thought we would take advantage and launch our camp two weeks early,” explains Catie Ferguson, director of CDS Summer Camp. “The weather is certainly cooperating and the next two weeks will be a great opportunity for us to fine tune everything before the summer really gets underway in July.”
Kids enrolled at CDS Summer Camp are receiving high-level sports instruction from expert coaches and enthusiastic counselors in one of four sports-themed camps: basketball, soccer, tennis and multi-sport. For three-weeks in July they can opt for drama as well. The Leaders in Training (LIT) program has been booked for months and will allow students to return for a second week to earn their community service hours. The camp runs for a total of seven weeks through August 2.
CDS Summer Camp is situated on The Country Day School’s 100-acre campus which includes 10 playing fields, walking and biking trails, a Sports Dome, three full-size gymnasiums, four tennis courts and a Performing Arts Centre. Even a rainy day is an active day at CDS Summer Camp! For registration information, visit our website at www.cds.on.ca/summercamp.
