Canadians celebrated Tax Freedom Day recently, a point during the year when we are finally working for ourselves and have covered our taxes. Tax Freedom Day measures the total yearly tax burden imposed on Canadian families by federal, provincial and municipal governments.
Since King recently mailed out the 2017 Final Tax Notice to residential property owners, I thought it might be helpful to provide some information and context to help residents understand just how King Township sets tax rates.
June 10 was “Tax Freedom Day,” when Canadians start working for themselves and not government.
King may have the distinction of having high residential taxes, but the truth is the local rates are reasonable, when stacked up against other GTA municipalities.
