Celebrate Canada Day in KettlebyKing's only public display of Canada Day fireworks will light up the sky at Tyrwhitt Park in the charming hamlet of Kettleby. Starting at 6 p.m. this Friday, there will be old-fashioned fun and games for kids of all ages, including face-painting, Canadian flag temporary tattoos and a variety of supervised games such as potato sack races and bocce ball. The event, put on by the Kettleby Village Association, attracts hundreds of visitors from around the township. In addition to the fun and games there will be a 50-50 draw, free birthday cake from Dorio's Italian Bakery and a singing of the national anthem led by Diva In The Rough, Catherine Hughes. The cash-only grill, courtesy of Pops' Kitchen, will be serving delicious sandwiches, corn-on-the-cob, snacks and drinks from 7 p.m. On the sandwich menu are porchetta with caramelized onions and peppers, barbecued chicken with coleslaw, sausage with sauerkraut as well as the customary hot dogs. All proceeds go to the KVA, which makes this event possible. Volunteer firefighters will be on hand with an antique fire truck to set off a spectacular display of fireworks to mark our country's 149th birthday at dusk, around 9:45 p.m. Bring a lawn chair or a picnic blanket and stretch out in this beautiful natural setting on the banks of Kettleby Creek for good fun, good food, and a magnificent fireworks display this Canada Day. This wonderful event is a relaxed and fun way to mingle with fellow King Township residents and celebrate the holiday, and is supported in part by the Township of King. Although the event is free to attend, donations are encouraged and gladly accepted. |
