King Township launches digital campaign to promote tourism

By Mark Pavilons
Armed with a new digital marketing campaign, King Township hopes to invite the world to experience our neck of the woods.
The public unveiling of “experienceKING,” took place at council recently. The Internet-based campaign promotes tourism in King Township. It consists of a website at experienceKing.ca, a YouTube channel, a Facebook page and Twitter account.
The campaign celebrates King as a beautiful place to refresh, recharge and revitalize, with the website currently featuring 42 destinations within King Township, as well as 10 festivals and events.
“King Township is one of the most beautiful places in Ontario, with so much to offer,” said Mayor Steve Pellegrini.  “Chances are that even King residents will learn more about King through this campaign.  I expect a lot of people would be surprised to know King has a water ski park, high ropes, a country club for dogs and a winery!”
The campaign also includes 10 excursion videos, which offer suggestions on how to spend a day or a weekend in King. The videos appeal to a broad range of interests, including hikers, golfers, gardeners, families with children, dog lovers, cyclists and more. Each video on the website is accompanied by a narrated description and a map which pinpoints the location of the featured destinations.
“These videos demonstrate some of the best and unique King experiences we have to offer to visitors and residents alike,” Pellegrini said.  “Additionally, these videos are living evidence of the collaborative and entrepreneurial spirit that resides in King.”
The website highlights:
• Outdoor Recreation:  Featuring many of the activities available in King, such as waterski-ing, cycling, golf and hiking.
• King Experiences:  Featuring unique destinations in King, including the excellent garden centres, the winery, and various farms and stables.
• Festivals and Events:  Currently highlighting 10 events that will take place over the balance of the year.
• Accommodations:  Profiling three unique alternatives to overnight in King.
• Restaurants:  Profiling the many places to dine in King.
Funding for the project was provided by King Township, King Chamber of Commerce, and Central Counties Tourism.
The marketing campaign was developed by a King Township based agency, clearIMPACT, and the website is hosted by Schomberg Technologies.  The destinations featured in the videos opened their doors to showcase their experiences along with providing volunteers to be in the videos.
