Holland Marsh Soupfest offers area’s bounty

By Mark Pavilons
The stage is set for the seventh annual Holland Marsh Soupfest, bringing the best of Nature's bounty to King.
The Township of King, in partnership with the Holland Marsh Growers Association and The Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury, is presenting the anticipated culinary event Saturday, Oct. 4 at Asnorveldt Park (18997 Dufferin St.) from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
There is nothing better on a crisp fall day then a nice bowl of soup! Soupfest showcases the best produce the Holland Marsh has to offer. This event gives patrons a unique opportunity to sample delicious soups from more than 30 chefs, created with produce and meats grown locally in the Holland Marsh. Visitors swear they can taste the difference.
Some of the participants this year hail from Centennial College, St. Joseph CES, Petits Chefs Academy, Muskoka & District Chefs' Association, Arbour Pub & Grill, Locale, Raffaele's, Naked Cafe, Cardinal Golf Club, My Secret Chef, Simply Souper, Tin Roof, Pegasus Hospitality Group, Cancun Mexican Grill, Humber and Georgian colleges.
There will also be some vendors and community booths set up.
Typically, this soup extravaganza draws visitors, dignitaries, politicians and TV personalities from far and wide to sample the best of what this area has to offer.
The ever-popular “Soupalicious” chef Marty Galin has been a King regular.
Yelp, one of this year's sponsors, will be bringing the judges. New this year will be the People's Choice category, where visitors can go to the Yelp booth to vote for their favourite soup.
