Scotiabank opens its doors in King City

By Mark Pavilons
Scotiabank has christened the newest commercial development in King City.
Opening its doors Monday, Scotiabank is the newest financial institution to the King Ridge Market, opening its second King Township branch in the past few months.
With the only drive-thru attached to the building, Scotiabank is meeting the growth in King City and welcomes customers new and existing to their newest branch.
According to branch manager Denise Yeomans, the bank offers customers a 24-hour drive-thru ABM, extended Saturday hours, small business expertise as well as financial planning services. They also offer mobile wealth management.
The branch's aesthetics are clean, functional and streamlined, offering eco-friendly paperless transactions. Scotiabank's trademark “Welcome Wall” points to its diversity and multicultural banking services. The bank also offers its Start Right program for newcomers to Canada.
The foyer of the new branch brims with clean modern lines and digital signage.
Scotiabank also has a solid and successful partnership with Cineplex, through its Scene points program.
Yeomans and Maria Foti, manager, customer service, noted personal banking has evolved in the past few years and caters to the technically savvy clients via mobile and online services.
Canada has the highest number of ABMs per capita in the world and benefits from the highest penetration levels of electronic channels such as debit cards, Internet banking and telephone banking.
But experienced, friendly faces still abound in the branch. This duo brings a wealth of experience in the industry.
“We're here,” Foti pointed out, noting business and mortgage customers still have to venture into the branch to meet with staff on a regular basis. Scotiabank also promotes the idea of knowing your clients.
Decades ago, the bank began the Scotia Hockey Club, encouraging youngsters to open their first bank account. The institution's connection and support of hockey in this country hasn't waned one iota, and the bank is still a huge backer of hockey programs at all levels. It's also a big community partner, supporting the United Way, juvenile diabetes and Alzheimer's charities.
The staff is settling in to their new building and they'll be getting to know the community.
They're quite excited to launch the new branch.
A special “soft opening” celebration will be held Oct. 18 with special guests Johnny Bower and Walter Gretzky.
Scotiabank is Canada's second oldest bank, with roots dating back to 1832. It has become one of the top three lenders in the country.
Visit the new branch at 1700 King Road, King City.
