King’s Terry Fox Run laces up Sept. 14

By Mark Pavilons
The tradition continues in King Township.
The annual Terry Fox Run will take to the streets in and around King City on Sunday, Sept. 14.
Participants will meet at Wellesley Park in King City, with registration starting at 9 a.m. Mayor Steve Pellegrini will be on hand to say a few words and wish the participants well.
The route runs north on Keele Street into Kingscross Drive, as in previous years.
According to Lisa Barenthin, King's Terry Fox Run coordinator, this is the 34th Terry Fox Run in the community. King City raised just over $13,000 at the community run and $45,000 at the school events for a total of just over $58,000 last year.
King Township has participated in the Terry Fox Run since 1984 (in which 3 participants raised $300) and has raised $324,652 for cancer research.
