The event culminates in this remarkable private “museum” filled with goodies from days gone by. Arts Society King has designed their first-ever fundraiser, but it is no black-tie dinner. Instead, Sunday, Oct. 19 is the perfect opportunity for King residents and friends to make up a team; then gas up the family van, climb aboard the pick-up, or dust off the classic car and explore beautiful countryside with new eyes. Exciting challenges await each team – beginning in the car with trivia puzzles en route. Unique treasures and gems, exciting challenges and obstacles await participants as they explore a township unlike any other in Ontario. This adventure tour winds its way through the very best of King – villages, towns and hamlets, rivers, lakes and wetlands, parks, forests and nature trails, all arrayed in the splendid colours of fall. Teams will discover King Township with new vision as they find homes created from unexpected materials, churches concealing artistic jewels, buildings with unusual architectural features. There are statues created by acclaimed artists, plaques with historic significance, and cutting-edge technology, all right here in King! The route travels through the villages of Schomberg, Nobleton, King City and Asnorveldt. It journeys around kettle lakes, up and down the roller coaster of the Oak Ridges Moraine,  through Toronto's “Salad Bowl”  the Holland Marsh,  where participants can taste produce grown in lush fields, and products created from fresh local ingredients from all over the township. Along the way teams will meet delightful King characters, both human and animal – Olympic winners, war heroes, famous artists, rebellion leaders, sports stars, firefighters, horses at college, bees on the payroll, even an ambassador duck. At the end of the road sits a remarkable barn, open by invitation only. This newly renovated two-storey museum holds more memorabilia from the 1900s and up than one can imagine under one roof. And it is all in mint condition. Classic cars glisten, decorative lights twinkle, and juke boxes crank out tunes. After participants have had their feast of memorabilia they will feast on dinner – a succulent pig roast, vegetarian options, beer and wine, fresh salads, and local desserts. Prizes for the rally will be awarded in several different categories. And the finale includes an exciting live auction.
