Thanks for input into Nobleton park

I am writing to thank the small group of teenagers who recently made a responsible contribution to our community.
As you may know, King is now in the initial planning stages for a brand new community park to be located in Nobleton just north of the public school off Highway 27.
Residents were invited to a public session a couple of weeks ago to share their ideas regarding the features they would like to see in the new 13.5-acre park.
This group of teenagers came and presented staff with diagrams of the skateboard park elements that they would like to see included.
This may well have been the first time that any of them has contributed to the planning of their community. Congratulations to these young men!
You saw an opportunity to let the Township know what you would like added to your village. You did some research and provided accurate information to the right people at the right time.
You have taken your first steps in being responsible citizens! Thank you.
Unfortunately, only a few adults showed up to do the same thing! Without real input from young families, primary school kids and their parents, more teenagers, adults and seniors, the park could be built without truly reflecting the needs and desires of those for whom the park is being developed. And surely that would be a lost opportunity and a real shame.
King is not likely to create any more community parks for a long time.
To the young men who came to the meeting, how much support is there for a skateboard park? Have your friends expressed their opinions?
The plan is that over the summer a contractor will design 3 options for the park based on public input.  We will all be consulted again in the fall and the planning will continue over the winter.  Construction should start in the spring of 2015.
The Parks, Recreation and Culture staff is receiving input from the public until July 16.  Please email your ideas to parks@king.ca.
Please help to create your park!
