Plans for Kettleby Fair moving ahead

On behalf of the Kettleby Fair committee of the Kettleby Village Association, I am happy to announce that plans are going forward to hold the 38th edition of Kettleby Fair this Sept. 6.
The present committee members are very keen to organize yet another fair. You have to agree that they are not easily discouraged!
Our model will be one of “weather permitting.” In the event of weather being an issue, will issue a decision to cancel the Fair not later than Thursday, Sept. 4 at 5 p.m. This call will, of course, be determined by a combination of the weather that week (which dictates the conditions of the grounds) and the forecast for Friday and Saturday.  Accessibility to the fairgrounds in Tyrwhitt Park is the critical issue.
It is our intention to make a contract available notifying all participants of this policy so there is no confusion. In addition, we will place  “Fair Cancelled” signs  over the larger signs in the area as soon as possible, while removing the smaller signs. And of course the website will also reflect the change in plan.
The chances of a third rainout are not mitigated by the fact we have had two rainouts in a row, so it is prudent to plan for the worst while expecting the best.
We hope the past two years of weather will not deter our marketplace participants, food vendors, volunteer groups and entertainers from joining in the fun of staging the 38th edition. Many have assured us that outdoor fair vendors and entertainers are a hardy, good natured bunch who spend the entire season calculating the risk of weather.  And our intention of advance cancellation has been met with positive response on the sampling we have already done.
