Peewee Knights win game fourBy Jeff Doner The NobleKing Knights minor peewee A hockey team took to the ice on Saturday for game three of their quarterfinal series against a formidable Barrie Colts squad at the Nobleton Arena. With the series tied 1-1 heading into the game, the Knights were looking to send a message to their counterparts. A surprisingly raucous crowd fed into a lightning fast pace to start the game. Despite both teams creating chances throughout the period, it ended in a scoreless tie. Barrie was the first to strike, using the power play to give them a 1-0 advantage at 5:32. Knights goalie Matteo Manfrini made the initial save on the play, but it was eventually banged home by an opposing player. Minutes later, the speedy David Bazzo, who was following the play after an initial chance for his team was stopped, smacked a loose puck out of the air and into the back of the net to tie the game in spectacular fashion. Carter Diceman and Angelo DeAngelis added the helpers on the goal. With 23 seconds left in the period, the Knights finally took the lead with another goal by Bazzo who buried the rebound yet again. Adam Miller drew the assist. Up 2-1 heading into the third period, the Knights kept controlling the game. Carter Diceman scored two more goals in the third period in the last two minutes. His first goal came on the power play, while the second was an empty netter. In the end, the Knights were able to hang on for a 4-1 victory. With the Knights now up two games to one, the series will continue with game four on Wednesday night and game five on Friday. |
