It may be freezing outside, but Nobleton Lakes Golf Club never closes.
In fact, it's open for business and hopes to become King's go-to event facility.
Focusing on the goal is Michael Yordanou, clubhouse manager, who recently joined the Nobleton Lakes “family” and brings a wealth of experience to the role.
Yordanou is spending the winter months laying out a game plan, making some physical improvements to the club and promoting the event space.
“I'm getting the word out that we're open 365 days a year,” he said.
A new sign on Highway 27 has created some curb appeal for the club.
Yordanou is planning some upgrades to the pro shop and change rooms for the coming golf season.
He's also excited about major renovations planned for the event space, restaurant and bar.
The decades-old club has a lot going for it, and Yordanou is looking at playing to the facility's strengths and making it visually appealing.
There are also opportunities for the facility to offer dining options for residents. The ownership would love the club to be a favourite choice for a night out. In its heyday, Nobleton Lakes was highly regarded and its hosted events and drew golfers from far and wide.
Yordanou vows to attract weddings and special events, all in an effort to make Nobleton Lakes a great customer experience.
Some clubs are known for their culinary prowess and Nobleton Lakes is no exception, boasting a talented chef who loves his craft. Backed by passionated and committed staff and family ownership, Nobleton Lakes is definitely a player.
And Yordanou knows what he's talking about. He has many years of experience in hotel, banquet hall and casino service.
The club can accommodate events for as many as 300 people. The panoramic view of the Oak Ridges Moraine make this a scenic wonder. It's ideal for corporate functions, meetings, seminars and conferences.
Its very location makes it a popular destination for golfers.
“There's no better value for golf in the area,” he stressed.
Yordanou's mandate is to bring people in for golf, and show off the facility. Experienced staff already shine in that regard. Staff tend to know patrons by name, and help get their clubs out of the trunk as they pull up in front of the clubhouse.
“We believe in those personal touches,” he said. “In a drive-thru society, we're here ready to serve.”
The team at Nobleton Lakes understands the needs and cares about their service.
Yordanou is confident in both his staff and ownership to “do what needs to be done.”
He even wants his clients to come in for a great cup of java.
“There's no greater escape for anyone than to lose yourself in your golf game, no matter how good or bad it is,” he said. “When you're done, we have great food waiting for you.”
Nobleton Lakes will be hosting the King Chamber of Commerce AGM and awards dinner Jan. 17.
