No Frills’ savvy customers understand valueJohn Ciarallo is thrilled to be ushering in the season at No Frills, which marks its first anniversary in Nobleton. By Mark Pavilons It's all about the customers. That's how the owner of John's No Frills in Nobleton sums up his first year in business. John Ciarallo is not only pleased about his venture and investment in his new community, he's quite optimistic that he'll continue to serve King for a long time to come. He sees many familiar faces at his store and loyal customers hail from across King and surrounding areas like Bolton. “The future looks really good,” he said, noting he can't wait to see the finishing touches put on the plaza, that will soon be home to retail stores, an LCBO and Scotiabank. The LCBO is slated to open mid-January and he sees this as a way for people to shop locally. Once the plaza fills, it will also create local jobs. The first year wasn't without its challenges, mainly from construction along Highway 27 and within the mall itself. While Ciarallo would have liked the buildings finished sooner, it will be really nice when it's all said and done. He praised the Township for its design standards, as well as Tribute for its commitment and minimal disruption. Councillor Peter Grandilli has also been helpful in addressing issues, Ciarallo said, who's made the move to Nobleton from Bolton. Now that he's a local resident he's beginning to see things differently. While he admits traffic on Highway 27 can be challenging at times, he's pleasantly surprised at the well mannered motorists in the sea of cars. Ciarallo has spent a great deal of time and effort developing his staff and offering meaningful employment opportunities. His customers have come to know just what a discount store has to offer and “it's a pleasure to do business with people who understand value.” The store's slogan of “Won't be beat” translates to dollars and cents. A family will see the savings immediately when they shop at No Frills and in this day and age, every penny counts. The store remains as clean and well organized as the day it opened. Ciarallo said since this was his first year in the community, ordering items and gauging consumer needs has been tricky. As well, seasonal items have to be ordered well in advance and the Christmas offering was booked back in July. Nevertheless, Ciarallo draws on his decades of experience and promises this will be a great yuletide season. He's pleased at the local growth and development across King, noting the municipality is blessed with “good civic leadership.” Being a good corporate citizen, No Frills is a strong supporter of the King Township Food Bank, local schools and the Nobleton Lions Club. It is all about people and the community. |
