The school's number-one volunteer, Julie Kerr, was honoured last week for her unparalleled service to youngsters in the community. Fond words abounded from staff at the school for this “epic” volunteer. Kerr was presented with a tree, courtesy of Greenside Nurseries, which will serve “as a constant reminder of how much we all appreciate everything you have done for our community, and our children,” according to a speech created by Rhonda Hayhoe and Glenda Douglas. Kerr spent many of the past 15 years on the school council and she was a frequent parent chaperone on school trips over the years. She helped with various fundraisers, organized many meet the teacher BBQ nights, and worked on several graduation committees. She's also been a fixture outside the Jr. School as a crossing guard. “They say that it takes a village to raise a child but in our case, we had Julie to help raise all of our children. “Hundreds of children have passed through this school during your time here and every single one of them has been touched by you in one way or another. Your beautiful spirit and leadership style is one that looks to build others up and help them to understand how valuable their time is. You always want to make sure everyone feels included. Your cheerful smile and spirit helps to create an environment that makes the ‘work' not seem like work at all, but rather a get together where we just happen to get some work done.” --------------------------------------------------- Images: https://kingsentinel.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/julie-hat-300x225.jpg --------------------------------------------------- Excerpt: “What do you need?” Those words greeted staff at Nobleton Public School for the last 15 years. --------------------------------------------------- Post date: 2013-06-19 09:09:57 Post date GMT: 2013-06-19 13:09:57 Post modified date: 2013-06-25 16:05:05 Post modified date GMT: 2013-06-25 20:05:05 ____________________________________________________________________________________________ Export of Post and Page as text file has been powered by [ Universal Post Manager ] plugin from www.gconverters.com
