Vandals strike at Nobleton Victoria Day

By Mark Pavilons

The success of the annual Victoria Day festival in Nobleton was marred by a senseless act of vandalism.
According to Patty Fleetwood, event organizer, vandals sliced the canvas tarp on the rear of the portable stage, rented for the occasion. It is beyond repair. It likely happened during the evening of May 20.
Fleetwood noted this is the first time in some 15 yeas that something like this has happened.
“I was utterly shocked by this,” she said.
This could be a matter for the insurance companies, or some of the cost could come out of the event coffers. It will cost upwards of $1,000.
Fleetwood noted the Nobleton Village Association relies totally on donations to put on this annual community event.
Fleetwood is disturbed that it happened, and would like those responsible to be held accountable. She's considering offering a reward for information on the matter.
